3 Ways to Survive a Rainy Wedding Day | Raleigh Wedding Photographer

This spring has been one of the rainiest on record for not only Raleigh Wedding Photographers, but wedding photographers all along the east coast . It seems like every weekend since March has gotten rain on at least one day, and with no end in sight, I thought a short “What to do” post was not only in order, but overdue. Have a plan and stick to it. If you are planning an outdoor wedding, having a solid rain plan is a MUST. Talk to your vendor team early in the planning process to devise a plan for rain, and once that plan is in place stick to it. Whether that plan is a tent, a change of venue, or umbrellas for every guest, be sure that you are comfortable with the plan you come up with. Additionally, make sure your plan includes when the decision to execute will be made and by who. The last thing you want on your wedding day is to be stuck with no plan only to turn on your TV the morning of to flash flood warnings. Trust your vendor team to help execute that plan so that you can relax. Trust that your photographer has a plan for your photos even if you don’t. Any photographer worth their salt will make sure that you get all of the important images that you want. Trust their vision. That’s why you hired her. I, for one, carry 12 cute bubble umbrellas with me to every wedding because even if my couples don’t want to risk the wet weather for portraits outside, there is a chance that they (their wedding party or guests) will need that umbrella at some point. But with that being said, don’t be afraid to embrace the fact that it rained on your wedding day. If it rains, that becomes part of your wedding day story, so why not have a little fun and get out there in it. Most photographers will leap at the opportunity to do something a little out of the ordinary and these images could end up being some of your most favorite from that day! Relax and carry on.
