When Corina contacted me in December 2015 to photograph her wedding, the first words out of her mouth were, “Do you photograph same-sex couples?” To me, love is love, so when I answered, “yes,” there was a noticeable sound of relief in her voice. Corina explained that they had not found a Raleigh Wedding Photographer that they clicked with who would photograph a same-sex couple in our area. Well, after just a short time on the phone, I was super excited to work with them because our personalities instantly clicked. I think our initial phone conversation was mostly about everything except photography. We chatted about work, restaurants, high school, and their sweet engagement in Mexico. We decided to plan for an early spring engagement session. I was thrilled and I think they were too.
These two have known each other for 10 years. They went to the same high school, but didn’t become a couple until about 2 years ago. It’s been a whirl wind romance for them, but their relationship is built on a ten year friendship and these two are about as solid as it gets. Corynn proposed while they were on a vacation in Mexico. She had a ring custom-made and kept it a secret from Corina for many months. Corina was so surprised! It was their first night in Mexico and Corynn called Corina out on the balcony overlooking the ocean, got down on both knees ( she was nervous), and asked Corina to spend the rest of her life with her… of course she said YES! I am so thrilled to be traveling to Cancun with them next April as they return for their wedding by the sea!
For their engagement session, we enjoyed sunset at Raleigh’s JC Raulston Arboretum. This is without a doubt one of my favorite places because there are beautiful little niches around every perfectly manicured corner. I can hardly wait until next year for their wedding!!
