I am so excited to finally be able to share Lasahea and Julius’s red, white, and blue patriotic engagement inspiration on the blog today! This session was a labor of love as I teamed up with an incredibly talented group of wedding pros to pull off this shoot in less that 2 weeks. I almost feel like I may be becoming the Queen of Last Minute Inspiration Shootdom!
The concept for this shoot came to me while I was planning for a speaking engagement in out Nation’s capital back in May. Knowing that the summer months were upon us and that nothing says “summer” like DC, red, white and blue, and weddings. So I reached out to my friendors (that’s creative lingo for friend and vendor) Rachel at The One Moment Events, Liz at Liz Miiler Style & Design, Elizabeth Ann at My Sweet Boutique, and Catrina at Camel + Birdie and pitched the idea to them. Did I mention that all of these amazing wedding pros are in DIFFERENT STATES? Yeah, just like me to make planning a last-minute shoot more difficult by gathering contributors from 4 states and 2 time zones. But when you want the best of the best, sometimes, that’s what it takes.
I am happy to report that (just as I knew it would), this shoot turned out PERFECTLY!! I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work that everyone put in to make it happen. Oh, and this shoot is featured over on one of my favorite blogs Aisle Perfect today!
Lashea and Julius are a real like power couple living right in DC. They met on the basketball court (Julius is a pro basketball player and Lashea a dancer for the team) and recently tied the knot in an intimate DC ceremony with family and friends. The couple was styled by My Sweet Boutique based in the DMV area. Lashea looked every bit of the Independence Day princess in red sequined Slate + Willow by Rent the Runway paired with ivory tulle from My Sweet Boutique.
The table for this shoot was both literally and figuratively set by the beautiful hand-lettered paper elements by my dear friend and Texan Catrina Ballard of Camel + Birdie. Navy and white, with gold and red accents were the perfect platform to build this shoot upon. Did you see the antique red stamps on the invite suite and the custom wax seal she included? Its Catrina’s attention to the details that keeps her in my speed dial for everything hand-lettered!
Rachel Rice of The One Moment Events though, she took the cake… really, she MADE that (and the flowers, and the table styling)!! Rachel is definitely MVP and none of this would have been possible without her chic style and patience with me during the planning process. When I say I was working with the best… I mean, just look at the styling on this session!
