Raleigh Wedding Photographer | Hashtags Made Easy | Work Flow Wednesday 21

By now you’ve probably figured out that I am all about working smart, not hard. As a busy Raleigh Wedding Photographer, wife and mom,  I want to free up as much of time as possible, because glued to my phone and computer is not whereI want to spend my time. So today’s Work Flow Wednesday is going to give you a sweet little life hack for managing your Instagram hash tags.

If you are an iPhone user, this time saver is especially for you (don’t worry Android users, there is a hack for you too, and I will post it soon. Promise)!

Have you ever spent too much time researching and typing hashtags under the perfect image that captures your brand perfectly only to find out after you post that you forgot to put a space somewhere, or you misspelled something or even worse, forgot something all together? I have, and it was so annoying to have to spend more time fixing it! Enter the key stroke shortcut!! Key stroke shortcuts are an amazing way to enter predetermined lines of text (like hashtags) by simply typing a few well thought out key strokes. Let me show you!

*** before getting started, I recommend you type out in a note or email draft (somewhere you can easily copy and past from on your iPhone) all of the hashtags you want to set in a short cut. I have a shortcut set up for every image, wedding, blog posts, portrait session, Friday Introductions, and posts that include unique and diverse elements***

STEP 4:  Now you are ready to add your shortcut text. Tap the + to open up a new shortcut and paste your first set of hashtags (this is your Phrase) and then assign your shortcut key phrase next to Phrase.

Easy right?? To use your shortcuts just type your shortcut name into your Instagram caption. You can layer your shortcuts too. For instance, I use IBARall for all of my posts. It contains hashtags that identify my name, location and specialty like#imagesbyamberr, #raleighweddingphotographer, and #browngirlwithacamera. It also has the hastags of some of my favorite blogs and photographers groups like #confidentphotographers, #shuttersocialites, and #risingtidesociety, #pixieset, and #mastinlabs. Then I add IBARwed for any wedding related posts, or IBARFriYAY for my Friday Bling posts. You get the idea

Once I have added my standard shortcuts, I can go in and add any post specific hashtags before I post
